Most of us come up with an idea, and jump right into making it happen, skipping over the entire process of planning out our goals and strategies, and then coming up with ideas or tactics in order to meet these goals. I am now a huge proponent of planning before you execute.
So, here we are in the middle of 2010, with the third quarter upon us and the fourth quarter in front of us, so where do we start?
I can tell you what we have done so far, in that, we have mapped out four big goals for our year, and attached action items to each goal, and then, each quarter, we choose the tactics that we want to use in order to fulfill these action items, and achieve our goals. For example, say one of our goals was to increase our SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and ensure that we are showing up on page 1 of Google for every search term that we should come up for. Our action items should then be things like adding keywords and places into the meta data and meta tags on our site, updating our site content with up-to-date newsworthy information that will spark interest, and using other social media outlets to link back to our site in order to build traffic. Does this make sense? Hopefully it allows you to start seeing the correct sequence to use when beginning to plan for your business.
I am by no means an expert on this, but I felt that this was some of the noteworthy information that I have learned this weekend, and wanted to share with you as effectively as possible!
