Have You Updated Your Facebook Privacy Settings?

I think that it is safe to say that most (or all) of us have a Facebook page these days. Whether you use it for business or personal reasons, we have all been exposed to this social networking phenomenon.

Facebook has made some recent changes to their privacy policy. These changes came following the onslaught of complaints from a large audience about the lack of privacy control for Facebook users. Facebook made three big changes to the settings; these changes included combining all privacy settings into one, simplified control, the ability to block unwanted visitors from your profile and information, and the ability to keep third-party visitors from accessing your personal information without your permission.

The overall reaction from Facebook users and critics has been mixed. It seems that these changes are a small improvement, but are still not up to the level that most users would like for them to be. Some of the concerns include fears that simplifying the controls will not just make it easier, but will also provide users with less choice in their overall privacy settings. Others are concerned about any information that is made "public", including the inability to block any user from tagging you in a picture of their choice.

It is believed that this is merely the beginning of the petitions, the haters and the lovers of Facebook and its' privacy settings, and with the constantly changing world of technology, no one care really be sure where Facebook will be a year from now. But, I think that it is safe to assume that Facebook will be around for some time. And, all we can do for now is make sure that Facebook users are educated in their privacy policies, and can make these elections and changes to their own information.

The video below demonstrates where the privacy settings are located in a Facebook account, and goes through the changes that you can make:
